Alexandros Theologis Already Had Ten Million Dollars. He Still Wanted the Trophy.

Alexandros Theologis of Greece already had ten million dollars in career earnings, proof he did not need a Triton trophy to count as a success. He went and won one anyway, taking his first Triton Poker title at the series' Jeju stop on September 5: the $15,000 buy-in kickoff event for $642,000 from a field of just 206 entries, a remarkably small crowd to hand out that much money to. Triton's Jeju stop was the tour's active festival at the time, and Theologis's breakthrough came the same week Jason Koon and Stephen Chidwick sat atop Triton's all-time cashes leaderboard heading into the series, good company to keep even before the win. Theologis now carries recorded career earnings of $10,197,777, including a $908,154 win at the 2025 European Poker Tour Malta €100,000 Super High Roller.

A 206-entry field at a $15,000 buy-in paid its winner more than four times what most WSOP Circuit Main Events pay their champions from fields twenty times the size. Triton operates as a genuinely different economy inside the same sport, and Theologis's win is a reminder that a player can carry a ten-million-dollar career and still be chasing a first title from one specific tour, right up until the exact moment he isn't.
