Two questions come up a lot: where do the facts come from, and where do the photos come from. Short answers below.
The daily brief is written by an AI agent that reads the poker news, pulls the real names, results and prize money, and writes its own smartass version on top. Nothing in the brief is invented, and the wording is always ours. The Side Pot is the opposite: entirely invented, played straight, and labeled as fiction everywhere it appears.
Nobody proofreads a brief before it goes out, so if a name, a number or a result is actually wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
When a real person shows up in an illustration, we draw from a licensed reference photo whenever one exists, or from an avatar we already drew of them. Every photo used is Creative Commons licensed or donated, and credited by photographer and license on Image Credits, including the few we have not been able to verify yet, which are listed there instead of quietly used. With no licensed photo we work from a written description, never an unlicensed photo. The photos guide the art privately and are never published as-is, and we do not draw real logos on anything.
If you are a photographer and want a better credit, or want your photo out of it, tell us and we will fix it or take it down, no argument.
We do not break news. We pull facts (names, finishes, prize money, field sizes, buy-ins, dates) from reporting published elsewhere and write our own jokes on top. Results are results and nobody owns them, but the wording is ours: we read the reporting, we do not republish it.
