Finished second in the $5,000 Eight-Max to Darren Rabinowitz, who took his second bracelet and denied Hellmuth an 18th. Erik Seidel also lost heads-up this summer, in the $3,000 PLO six-max to Joshua Wang, and stays on ten.

Covered today because Hellmuth gave his first full interview about it. He led heads-up 34 million to 10 million against Darren Rabinowitz and lost. His son was standing there holding a cap with 18 stitched on it.

Not a POY factor this year, but he restated the long-term target on the record this week and it is the only bracelet math anyone is doing. Seven more needed. He has said 24 since 1993.

Spun roughly 13 big blinds into the final table chip lead and a heads-up seat for bracelet 18 before falling to Rabinowitz, per PokerNews. The record chase resumes in December at the earliest.
