What happenedOssi "Monarch" Ketola and Patrik Antonius each bought in for $10 million for a heads-up match at the Triton Super High Roller Series in Jeju on Friday, the largest heads-up match in livestream poker history. Ketola took all of it. The decisive stretch began when Ketola held the queen and nine of hearts against Antonius, who had the king of diamonds and the nine of spades. The flop came queen of spades, eight of hearts, jack of hearts, the ten of hearts arrived on the turn, and Ketola had a straight flush while Antonius had a straight and no outs. Antonius called a check-raise to $1,600,000, then folded to a $4.1 million river shove, which was correct and did not help. On the very next hand he got all in with the ace and king of diamonds against a four-bet jam of $4.1 million holding the king and jack of clubs, and the jack of spades landed on the turn. Antonius lost $10 million, the biggest single-match defeat in livestream poker history.
Why it mattersKetola lost $15 million to Dan Cates in a heads-up match last year, which makes this year's $10 million profit a partial refund rather than a breakthrough. The match was also a study in how little a correct decision is worth: Antonius folded a straight to a straight flush, called a six-figure river bet with queen high and was right, and still went home down eight figures. Earlier in the session Ketola bet $3,000,000 into a $2,200,000 pot with six high and got a fold from eight high, so both players spent the evening being paid and punished for the same quality of thinking.

Wai Kiat Lee's eight mystery bounties from Thursday's $40,000 event at Triton Jeju II were worth $700,000 on top of the $619,000 he won for the title, so his fourth Triton trophy in eighteen months came with roughly $1.32 million attached. He then came back Friday and made the final table of the $50,000 no-limit hold'em eight-handed, where Aliaksei Boika's pocket sixes ended his run in sixth for $361,000.
Why it mattersThursday's brief listed the envelope figure as unverifiable, because half of a mystery bounty prize pool sits in sealed paper until somebody opens it on camera. It is now verified, and the number is larger than the advertised first prize, so the headline payout was the smaller half of the win. Lee is 23rd in the Card Player Player of the Year race with 4,531 points, none of which come from bounty money, because the points formula counts finishing positions and the envelopes are not a finishing position.

It did not stay in play long. Petrangelo called off with king four against Padilha's queen eight, an eight came on the turn, and the tournament was over. Phil Ivey finished seventh for $271,000 after running pocket nines into Petrangelo's pocket jacks, one of three players Petrangelo eliminated with a pocket pair at that table.
Why it mattersThirty-two players came back for the final day of the festival's biggest buy-in to date and the two who got to the end decided in advance that 92 percent of the remaining money was not worth contesting. That is the rational read of a heads-up match, and it also means the climactic hand of a $50,000 tournament was played for less than fourth place paid. Padilha was runner-up in the Triton Main Event at WSOP Paradise last year, so the near-miss ledger is now closed.

Why it mattersA man with four titles this year managed to finish one place out of the money twice between breakfast and the end of the night, in a building where the shortest walk from the bubble to a payout was $52,000. Bubbling is the one result poker does not record anywhere, so a day that cost Lin two buy-ins and roughly $80,000 in entries leaves no trace on the leaderboard he is eleventh on.

What happenedAlex Anton won the $30,000 no-limit hold'em turbo at Triton Jeju II for $577,000, topping 70 entries out of a $2,100,000 prize pool that paid 11 places. The final table included Stephen Chidwick, second on the all-time money list with more than $80 million, Mikita Badziakouski, fourth with $72.8 million, and Adrian Mateos, fifth with nearly $70.6 million. Chidwick went out fourth for $207,000 when Anton's jack four held against ten six. Mateos finished fifth for $164,000 and Badziakouski seventh for $101,000, both eliminated by Artur Martirosian, who then lost heads-up when Anton's king six held against five three. "It was really silly," Anton said afterwards. "It was fun, but we were just flipping for a lot of money."
Why it mattersThe 25-year-old from Miami is having the year. This was his third title and seventh final table of 2026, it came four months after he won a WSOP $10,000 mystery bounty for $678,300, and the 588 Player of the Year points move him to 21st with 4,570. The structure did most of the work and the winner is the one who said so out loud, which is more candour than the buy-in usually buys.

What happenedPoker will be played at Fontainebleau Las Vegas for the first time on September 18, when Russell Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation holds its sixth annual Poker Night there in conjunction with the World Poker Tour Foundation. Fontainebleau opened on the Strip in 2023 without a poker room and has not built one since. The event is in the Poodle Room, the property's top-floor lounge, with seats at $10,000 including two guest admissions and a night in the hotel, and general admission at $1,500 for two. The series has raised more than $2 million for educational access, workforce development and mental health programmes in underserved communities. Poker lessons will be available for attendees who have never played.
Why it mattersA brand new Strip resort decided poker was not worth the floor space, then agreed to host it for one night at $10,000 a seat in a cocktail lounge with a view. Both decisions are the same decision. Poker is not a business at Fontainebleau, it is an amenity you rent for an evening. The only way to play it there is to donate to a children's charity first, which is the clearest statement anyone on the Strip has made about the game's standing this year.

Regulated American sportsbooks and prediction markets do not offer markets on the event. BetOnline does, and promotes them; Bovada has also posted daily odds on Little League matchups. Both operate outside the United States, are illegal to use inside it, and are not subject to its laws. Kiley chairs the House subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education. No hearing date has been set.
Why it mattersThe regulated industry drew this line on its own, without being told to, which is the part worth noticing. The books that ignored it are the same ones that cannot be reached by American law, so the remedy being floated is a letter to two cabinet officials about companies that have already arranged to be beyond their reach. Poker's interest here is structural rather than sentimental: every time the offshore market generates a headline this ugly, the case for pushing American players toward it gets harder to make.
